Messages: one-to-one and groups

Private conversations with the people you've chosen — direct messages that just work, and group threads with real management underneath.

Direct messages

DMs open between Connections — people who follow each other. That one rule is why your inbox contains zero strangers and zero spam: everyone in it is someone you both said yes to.
There is exactly one conversation between any two people — pick it up next month and it's the same thread, full history intact. Disconnect and the history stays readable; new messages wait until you're Connected again.
Unread counts that mean it: every conversation tracks what you've seen, across devices.
Photos and video attach to messages the same way they attach to posts.

Group threads

Start a group with a title and up to fifty people — drawn from your Connections (nobody is pulled into a room by a stranger; that rule protects you in other people's groups too).
Groups have admins (the creator starts as one). Admins add and remove members — and can promote others to admin, so a group never depends on one person. The last admin can't abandon ship without handing over the keys first: a group is never left ownerless.
Everyone sees the same history from when they joined; leaving is one tap.

The honest edges

No message editing — a sent message is a sent message. Typo'd? Delete it (a small "removed" marker holds its place) and send again. In exchange, nobody can quietly rewrite what they said to you.
Conversations are private to their participants — the platform's privacy posture applies (How private are my messages?).

Good habits

Give groups real titles — future-you scanning a thread list will thank you.
If a group matters, promote a second admin early.
