Your profile is yours

Your public page — photo, bio, links, posts — with a visibility dial that you control, change anytime, and that the platform enforces everywhere at once.

What's on it

Your display name and photo (from your account) and your handle — the address of your page, shareable as a link.
A bio and links (your site, your socials — up to a handful).
Your posts — the feed you author (Post it).

The visibility dial

One setting governs your whole public presence:

Public — anyone with the link sees your page and public posts, signed in or not. This is the "find me, follow me" setting.
Signed-in only — only authenticated people on the platform see your profile and posts; to the open internet, your page shows a sign-in notice, never content.
Connections only — the closest setting: your content shows only to people you're Connected with. Everyone else sees that you exist, and nothing more — presence without content, until the handshake.

A separate switch, Private profile, controls who may follow you (ask-first). The two compose: private + connections-only means both your followers and your readers passed your approval.

Change it whenever you like — it applies immediately, everywhere: your page, search and hashtag discovery, everything. Content you've set to signed-in-only never appears in public discovery; that's enforced at write time and re-checked at read time, so a later change of heart is honored retroactively.

What your profile is not

It's not your messages — conversations are private to their participants regardless of any profile setting.
It's not your org memberships — those show where org pages choose to show members, under each org's rules.

Good habits

Set the dial before your first post, not after — although retroactive changes are honored, screenshots exist in every corner of the internet.
Your handle appears in mentions (@you) — pick one you're happy to see in other people's posts. (Changed your mind later? Handles can change — your history can't be taken from you by a rename.)

Did you know? Deleting a post leaves a small "removed" marker rather than silently vanishing — conversations under it keep their shape, and nobody is left replying to a ghost. Removed content is gone from view either way.
